Karen Kang is a recognized expert in positioning and brand strategies. She has helped more than 100 high-tech and consumer companies develop compelling strategies to position and message their brands. Her clients have ranged from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups in the US, Europe and Asia. They have included such names as AT&T, Aberdeen Group, Ariba, Bandspeed, Care2, HP, Maxtor, National Semiconductor, NCR, Park Systems, Synopsys, University of California at Davis, University of Massachusetts and VoyagePrive.com. Karen’s clients have successfully launched new products, completed initial public offerings or M&A, and secured venture financing with the help of her strategies.

A 20+ year veteran in marketing and communications, she founded Karen Kang Consulting in 1994. A former newspaper reporter, she has worked as an executive with marketing consulting, advertising and public relations firms such as BBDO and Regis McKenna Inc., the legendary high-tech marketing consultancy that launched Apple and Genentech. During her six years at Regis McKenna Inc., she contributed to the firm’s success as a partner and manager of the fast-growing Systems and Software Practice.
Her entrepreneurial experience includes founding Italia Global Marketing LLC, where she rebranded and launched an online consumer site for Italian vacation rentals and services.

She has served on the boards of The Friends of the Palo Alto Library and the Women’s Technology Cluster (Astia). She received a B.A. degree from Mills College and an M.S. degree from Boston University.
